Serere (Bolivia, 2013) – The Serere (Opisthocomus hoazín) is a very interesting bird. To this day scientists haven´t been able to relate it with other living birds giving it its own family (for one bird!). Some see similarities to the prehistoric birds. The fact that it flies for short distances with the grace of a panicked chicken may speak in favor of this theory. Its singing abilities lie on a similar level. Probably, it wouldn´t be even able to win the Eurovision Song Contest (yes, that bad). The fact that it’s not endangered results from the bad fame of its meat (even among the not really picky locals).
