Sunwalk

Many visitors seem to forget (despite breathing problems) or ignore the fact that La Paz lies at 3600 m.a.s.l. (ok, between 3200 and 3800 m.a.s.l., depending on the neighborhood). With other words, you´re 3000 meters nearer to the sun than (probably) 90% of world’s population.  Locals living in La Paz learn their lesson sooner or later and tend to walk in the shadow with a hat and/ or sunglasses. Tourists often try to enjoy the sun (as everybody would when on vacation), walking happily on the sunny side of the street without a hat, with short sleeves and with a 30 sun cream, if at all… After some 30 minutes they start to wonder where the tasty broiled chicken smell comes from…
