ORP Chmurka (Bolivia, 2013)
To buy a sailing boat isn´t an easy everyday decision and generally you´ll drink after signing the contract. In my case it started slightly different.
I met a guy from Bremen (Germany) during a party in Bolivia. He was about to leave the country and had to face one last problem: To sell a six meters long sailing boat on the Titicaca Lake. Not an easy task, as you may lose your credibility when being asked where it´s based.
And that´s how our first talk started:
M.: Oh, and btw, I want to sell a sailing boat.
I: Oh really, where is it?
M.: In Huatajata, on the Titicaca Lake.
I: Hehe, good one, but really, where is it?
M.:In Hautajata, on the Titicaca Lake.
I: Really?! Cool! How much do you want to have for it? (…)
Would the alcohol level in my blood have been lower (and the price of the boat higher), I might have thought it through more calmly. But instead we decided to test it;
And two weeks later I called myself a proud owner of a sailing boat on the Titicaca Lake.
And three years later I call myself a proud owner of a sailing boat on the Titicaca Lake confronting the same problem as the previous owner: How to start a serious sales talk…
Anyone interested in sailing at 3800 m.a.s.l.?
